Pastel Wildflowers Invitation Suite for a Colorful Wedding

Letterpress wedding invitations for a late summer wedding in Ojai Valley Inn

Wedding

When I met with Hannah and Jeremy to discuss their Ojai wedding vision, I immediately knew it was a great fit. Once they expressed wanting their custom wedding invitations to include pastels consisting of yellow, green, blue, and a pop of orange, the color loving designer in me knew we were meant to work together.

For their invitations, we included 3 colorful cards: an invitation letterpress card printed on a pale yellow cardstock, a light green cardstock for their details card featuring an illustration of the oak tree from Ojai Valley Inn, and the RSVP on a blue card stock with a wavy edge die cut. The design featured wildflowers in shades of yellows, blues, and reds. To keep the playful vibes, I chose a whimsical script font paired with an italics sans serif.

The invitation suite was completed with a yellow silk ribbon tie and secured with a pastel blue wax seal with a pressed dried orange wildflower.

When it came to their day of stationery and signage, we carried the same design details from their invitations and of course that meant a lot of fun colors! To help guests find their seat, we designed a large digital foam board print seating chart using the pastel green color palette. The seating chart, hung with yellow ribbons and on a white stand, was displayed at the entrance of Ojai Valley Inn’s Farmhouse

My favorite Easter egg detail: we used the pastel yellow and green in their invitations as an Easter egg for Hannah’s wedding dress, which featured applique yellow floral pieces.

The indoor space had low light and created a moody, soft romantic atmosphere with candles at every table. At each table, we designed table numbers featuring a photo of Hannah and Jeremy at the age of the corresponding table number and a floral border. Each place setting included a yellow menu set atop of green napkins and a small bag of jordan almonds, a wedding tradition that I had never heard of until then.

Their wedding night ended with drinks and dancing, including a special choreographed from the bride and bridesmaids for the mother of the bride.
